Before the Assessment

To ensure a smooth and successful PISA administration, schools must follow the steps outlined on the left in a timely manner.
Watch this video and consult the School Contact Checklist to learn about the steps required for schools to administer PISA 2025.
The relevant provincial ministry/department of education will contact selected schools with forms to complete, as well as other important information. CMEC will assign test administrators to administer the assessment in schools and provide them with the required assessment materials.
Every selected student will participate in a testing and a questionnaire session (refer to the Regular Assessment Schedule and the UH Test Schedule). Students with special education needs may participate in a shorter (one hour) version of the assessment, called the UH test (which stands for “une heure” or “one hour” test). Additionally, the school principal will be asked to complete a School Questionnaire. All components of the assessment will take place online.
It is important to note that the assessment is not in any way an effort to evaluate the performance of individual students, teachers, or school principals. All data collected through PISA are kept strictly confidential. No data will be published that will enable individual students, teachers, schools, or school boards/districts to be identified. The data that the schools are being asked to collect will enable us to monitor education systems and provide policy-relevant information without revealing the identity of the respondents. Results are reported at the provincial and pan-Canadian levels only.
