Verification Step 2 – Complete system check

After installing the secure browser on all electronic devices to be used for PCAP, you must test each device by running the system check to ensure that PCAP will run on all the devices. If all the devices to be used for PCAP were bought at the same time and have the same specifications, you can decide to test only a few devices.

This is also an ideal time to ensure that your school has sufficient internet speed. Please run the system check under the same internet conditions that will exist when students are writing the PCAP assessment.

If using Chromebooks: Check to make sure that Kiosk mode has been turned on prior to starting the system check. You can turn on Kiosk mode within the Google Admin Console. When Kiosk mode is on, all connected Chromebooks should automatically open to the student assessment login page as soon as you open the Chromebooks. When the system check is complete, you will need to turn off Kiosk mode to restore the Chromebooks to their regular settings.

  1. To access the system check, click on the PCAP-PPCE icon on your desktop, or turn on Kiosk mode if using a Chromebook, and then click on the System Check tab.
  2. When the system check opens, read the instructions and click “Continue.” You will then see six sample questions for the system check.
  3. Complete all six questions, scroll to the bottom of the page, and click “Next” in the bottom-right corner.
  4. Once you get to the next page, click the “Click here to return to the previous page” button under Step 1 and check that all your previous responses are displayed correctly.
  5. Click “Next” in the bottom-right corner to return to the final system check page.
  6. If all your responses displayed correctly, select “Yes” under Step 2. Your device is compatible with the PCAP assessment.
  7. If you experienced any difficulties and/or your answers did not save, select “No” under Step 2 and contact the AWIS Technical Support Team (see APPENDIX A).
  8. Once you have completed the system check, click the box at the bottom of the page with the text “Click here to exit the system check, after you have completed Step 2.” This will close the secure browser.
Note: You will not be able to close the secure browser without completing Step 2.
  9. If using Chromebooks, turn off Kiosk mode when done to return the Chromebooks to their regular settings.
