G. List of Classes
NOTE: THIS STEP DOES NOT APPLY TO SCHOOLS IN ONTARIO, NOVA SCOTIA, SASKATACHEWAN AND NEW BRUNSWICK.
List all the Grade 8/Secondary II language arts classes in your school, if applicable. If your school does not assign students to language arts classes, list all the Grade 8/Secondary II classes based on the selection criteria established by your ministry or department of education (e.g., homeroom). Each of the following columns must be filled out for each class:
1. Class name: Type the class name that your school usually uses to label the classes which have Grade 8/Secondary II students (e.g., 8a, 8b; 8.1, 8.2; Room 7, Room 8).
2. Split class: If your class is a split or combined class with students from two or more grades, please select "X" to indicate this.
3. Grade: the grade level (8 or II) will be populated automatically.
4. Number of students: Input the number of Grade 8/Secondary II students in each class. If the class is a multigrade class, input only the number of Grade 8/Secondary II students in the class. For example, if there is a Grade 7 and Grade 8 multigrade class with 12 Grade 8 students and 10 Grade 7 students, input 12 as the number of students for this class.
5. Class exemption: A whole class may be exempted if and only if a qualified staff person has assessed each student in the class and has determined that all the students have a special education needs (SEN) code, and that all these students should not participate as a result of a lack of appropriate accommodations. In this case, in the Class Exemption column of the form, input one of the following codes, as applicable (choose the one that best applies)
- Code 1: Functional disability
- Code 2: Intellectual disability and/or socio-emotional condition
- Code 3: Limited assessment-language experience
6. Language: This column is prepopulated to show the language of the school system to which the school belongs. The language in which the assessment will be administered will be identified on the Student Identification Form.
7. Instruction mode: The codes to indicate the instruction mode of each class are as follows:
- O = Online
- P = In-person
- M = Mixed (this code should be used for classes in which students are participating in both online and in-person instruction.)
If the default instruction mode is incorrect, change the instruction mode for the class by typing in the correct code.
