Supervise the PCAP Administration
The test administrator should observe the following general rules during the PCAP administration:
Students finishing early:
If a student has completed Part 1 or Part 2 of the assessment before the time allowed is up, they may use the time to review their answers to the items within that part of the assessment. Students should remain in the assessment room until the allocated time is over to minimize noise and disruption. Items for quiet activity (e.g., materials for individual work, books) should be readily available for students who finish PCAP early.
Students leaving early:
If a student needs to leave early, they must exit using the designated button on their platform.
- For Chromebook users, who are using Assessment Lock Plus, there is an Exit Assessment Lock button near the top left corner of the screen.
- For Macintosh and Microsoft (PC) users, the button is in the bottom right corner of the screen. To exit, click on the power button as seen in the image below.
In both cases, the student will be prompted to enter a quit password. This password is in the Assessment Script and must be provided by the test administrator. Before leaving, the student must enter this password to exit the assessment for to ensure the validity of their responses. Note: the student should be recorded as partially present (Code 2B) on the Student Tracking Form.
If a student leaves the session and returns, they can continue where they left off by reopening the LockDown Environment and logging in.
Students arriving late:
Once the assessment has started, no latecomers should be admitted. This means that after students have logged in to PCAP using their CMEC ID and password, and the test administrator has begun reading the instructions, additional students cannot join that session.
If a student arrives during the break, i.e, after Part 1 is over but before Part 2 has begun, they may join the assessment and begin Part 2 with everyone else. During the break, the test administrator may provide the latecomer student with their login information and quietly read the assessment directions and the Try the Tools tutorial to them to ensure that they receive the same information as the other students. Note: the student should be recorded as partially present (Code 2B) on the Student Tracking Form.
Problems (administrative or technical):
Make note of any class-level problems experienced during the assessment administration on the Student Tracking Form under “Reason of session interruption.” When the issue pertains to a specific student, record “Additional details” in that student’s row on the Student Tracking Form.
