PISA 2022 Results: Learning During – and from – Disruption (Volume II)

Volume II, along with volume I, provides the initial results from OECD’s PISA 2022. PISA is a survey of the knowledge and skills of 15-year-olds near the end of their compulsory schooling. The major focus of the 2022 assessment was mathematics, with a secondary focus on reading and science. Volume II examines school and home contexts, educational resources, and the resiliency of education systems.

PISA 2022 Results: The State of Learning and Equity in Education (Volume I)

Volume I, along with volume II, provides the initial results from OECD’s PISA 2022. PISA is a survey of the knowledge and skills of 15-year-olds near the end of their compulsory schooling. The major focus of the 2022 assessment was mathematics, with a secondary focus on reading and science. Volume I provides a detailed examination of student performance in mathematics, reading, and science, and describes how performance has changed since previous PISA assessments.

This report provides the initial results for Canada and the provinces from OECD’s PISA 2022. PISA is a survey of the knowledge and skills of 15-year-olds near the end of their compulsory schooling. The report presents both national and provincial results in mathematics, reading, and science, and complements the information presented in the PISA 2022 international report.

Measuring up: Canadian Results of the OECD PISA 2018 Study - The Performance of Canadian 15-Year-Olds in Global Competence

The Canadian report provides information on the performance of 15-year-old students on the assessment of global competence as well as on six student questionnaire constructs: awareness of global issues; self-efficacy regarding global issues; respect for people from other cultures; interest in learning about other cultures; attitudes toward equal rights for immigrants; and sense of agency with respect to global issues.

Transitions in Canada: From Early Childhood Education and Care to Primary Education

This pan-Canadian companion report to the OECD’s Starting Strong V: Transitions from Early Childhood Education and Care to Primary Education places certain aspects of the early learning systems of Canada’s provinces and territories into an international context. This report focuses on the transitions experienced by children entering Kindergarten and Grade 1 across Canada, drawing on key pan-Canadian comparison findings from the OECD.

Proceedings of the 2018 Pan-Canadian Research Conference: Learning from PISA and Other Large-Scale Assessment Projects

Pan-Canadian Research Conference was organized by the Council of Ministers of Education, Canada and held on October 3–4, 2018 in Toronto, Ontario. The goal of the conference was to highlight the use of Canadian data in studies related to the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) and other large-scale assessment (LSA) projects and to promote the use of data to help address relevant policy issues. The conference presentations were organized according to four themes: opportunity to learn, exploring achievement gaps, what the data tell us about schools and classrooms, and beyond the core competencies.

Assessment Matters! is a series of policy-oriented research notes designed to explore educational issues in Canada and Canadian jurisdictions. These notes are based on the results of international and national assessment programs, including the Pan-Canadian Assessment Program (PCAP), the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), the Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS), and the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS).

CMEC Statement on Fostering Lifelong Learning in the Early Years

This statement is intended to encourage lifelong learning starting in the early years, for families, schools, and communities. It identifies the early years as a critical learning period for children to develop the foundational competencies, attitudes, skills, strategies, and knowledge that they will need to be lifelong learners.

PISA 2018 Results: What School Life Means for Students’ Lives (Volume III)

Volume III, along with volumes I and II, provides the initial results from OECD’s PISA 2018. PISA is a triennial survey of the knowledge and skills of 15-year-olds near the end of their compulsory schooling. The major focus of the 2018 assessment was reading, with a secondary focus on mathematics and science. Volume III focuses on the physical and emotional health of students, the role of teachers and parents in shaping the school climate, and the social life at school. This volume also examines indicators of student well-being, and how these are related to the school climate.
