The CMEC Postsecondary Education (PSE) Strategy, 2023–27 sets forth the ministers’ shared priorities for the future of postsecondary education in Canada.
This forward-looking strategy highlights the focus of collective and individual efforts of provinces and territories to strengthen the postsecondary education sector. By enhancing the responsiveness, accessibility, and sustainability of this sector, ministers of education aim to work towards inclusive recovery in PSE.
The strategy outlines the focus of collective actions under the following three pillars:
- Promoting and steering the development of skills in line with the labour market
- Supporting effective student and graduate transitions and fostering accessibility and affordability of education
- Promoting the sustainability of the postsecondary education sector
Ministers have further underscored the need to ensure that actions undertaken in support of these pillars are guided by:
- CMEC’s commitment to Indigenous postsecondary education;
- consideration for the improvement of the mental health and well-being of students, faculty, and staff; and
- a recognition of the rapid digitalization of the postsecondary education landscape.
Aligned with the CMEC Strategic Plan, 2023–27, the CMEC PSE Strategy, 2023–27 recognizes and reaffirms the importance of collaboration among provinces and territories.
