Pan-Canadian framework for cultural appropriation in French-language schools
Since 2002, several pan-Canadian assessments have shown that 13—16-year-old francophone students living in minority settings performed less well than their counterparts in majority settings. Studies have shown that their performance can be improved by providing them with sociocultural skills to help them use language as a tool for learning, communication, and personal development. This document presents the pan-Canadian framework for cultural appropriation in French-language schools and describes the four components designed to help educators to refine their teaching approaches as an essential part of identity-building.
