Some examples of literacy activities in Alberta:

  • Living Literacy: A Literacy Framework for Alberta's Next Generation Economy Alberta's literacy framework calls for the coordinated action of the Government of Alberta and partners to improve literacy and contribute to Alberta's future economy. It is the result of research and consultation with stakeholders who strongly support the development of a coordinated approach to literacy for all Albertans.

  • Early Childhood Development Mapping Initiative This research project gathers information about local facilities, programs, and services available for young children in order to produce community maps that help explain the factors that may influence how children are developing.

  • Alberta Adult Literacy Benchmarks This project brings Alberta closer to a provincial set of reading literacy benchmarks that provides learners in literacy programs with meaningful information about their reading-skill levels and an understanding of their own skills development through a comparison of their skill level to a standardized set of levels.
