CMEC, through the Canadian Education Statistics Council (CESC), a partnership with Statistics Canada, coordinates Canada's participation in the following international projects.
- OECD’s Indicators of Education Systems (INES)
Every year, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development's (OECD) releases a publication entitled, Education at a Glance: OECD Indicators. This document presents a compilation of indicators that provides comparative and quantitative descriptions of education systems across OECD member countries based on four main themes:
- The output of educational institutions and the impact of learning
- Financial and human resources invested in education
- Access to education, participation, and progression
- The learning environment and organization of schools
- UNESCO Indicators for Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 - Education 2030
In 2015, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which aims to eliminate poverty through sustainable development by 2030. There are 10 universal objectives specifically relating to education that are categorized as SDG-4 and they form the Education 2030 Agenda. Work is currently underway to develop global indicators to help measure these education targets, which focus on the following areas:
- Primary and secondary education
- Early childhood
- Technical, vocational, and tertiary education (includes college and university)
- Skills for work
- Equity
- Literacy and numeracy
- Global citizenship
- School environment,
- Scholarships
- Teachers
