Some examples of literacy activities in Prince Edward Island:


  • Preschool Excellence Initiative A plan to revitalize the province's early childhood learning systems, the initiative is designed to support Island children from birth to age four, their parents, and their educators, through access to high-quality learning programs at Early Years Centres and Infant Homes. It includes measures to ensure that all early-childhood personnel are trained and certified, early-learning opportunities for Island children with special needs are expanded, and educators have the support of a strong curriculum framework. 


  • Trade HERizons This program is intended to help low-skilled women prepare for employment in the trades (i.e., skilled labour), bringing together Women's Network PEI, SkillsPEI, the Department of Community Services and Seniors, the Department of Innovation and Advance Learning, Holland College, Status of Women Canada, and Workplace Learning PEI.
