New Web Site and Logo for the Council of Ministers of Education, Canada (CMEC)

TORONTO, March 13, 2009 – The Council of Ministers of Education, Canada (CMEC), launched an enhanced Web site and a new logo for the organization today.

The new site, the address of which remains www.cmec.ca, will be a valuable resource for education stakeholders and the general public. It showcases key CMEC initiatives and activities, as defined in the recent ministerial declaration, Learn Canada 2020; provides easier and more focused access to CMEC educational materials and tools; and serves as a gateway to the diverse education systems of the provinces and territories.

New features will be added to the site in the coming months to provide even better service to stakeholders and the public.

Alberta Education led the development of the new site, in cooperation with staff at the CMEC Secretariat and in consultation with other provinces and territories.

The new CMEC logo puts the focus on education and marks another chapter in the renewal of CMEC. It serves as the visual counterpart to Learn Canada 2020. Together, they reaffirm CMEC's role as the voice for education in Canada and on the international stage.

CMEC is an intergovernmental body composed of the ministers responsible for elementary-secondary and advanced education in the provinces and territories. Through CMEC, ministers share information and undertake projects in areas of mutual interest and concern.
