Ministers of Education to Meet in Halifax, July 4–6, 2012

TORONTO, June 29, 2012 — Canada's ministers of education will be in Halifax, July 4–6, 2012, at the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel, 1919 Upper Water Street, for the 100th meeting of the Council of Ministers of Education, Canada (CMEC), their long-standing intergovernmental body.

Hosted by the current Chair of CMEC, the Honourable Ramona Jennex, Minister of Education for Nova Scotia, CMEC 100 will bring ministers together to discuss a number of priority education issues of importance to all Canadians.

Ministers will also be celebrating their 100th meeting and will underscore key accomplishments since the founding of CMEC in 1967.

The Chair of CMEC will be available for media interviews on Friday afternoon, after the close of the meeting.

Media Interview Room

An interview room will be located in Halifax Room C, second floor, and will be made available to members of the media for individual interviews with ministers of education. The room will be equipped with microphones and a media feed box.

Media Work Room

A media work room will be located in the Alexander Room, lobby level. It will be available on Friday, July 6, from 12 noon to 4 p.m., and will be equipped with Internet access and power outlets.
