Student and Teacher Mobility

Mobility is a fact of life as both students and teachers move from one province or territory to another – and seek to continue their education or their careers with as little disruption and complication as possible.

  • Student Mobility: As secondary school students move from one jurisdiction to another, it is important that they are able to be placed in the appropriate level in the new system with minimal gaps and repetitions. CMEC has developed a Student Transfer Guide to facilitate this process.
  • Teacher Mobility: In order to comply with the provincial and territorial premiers' intention that full mobility within Canada for all trades and professions be mandatory by August 2009, ministers of Education have agreed that the teaching profession will have full mobility by that date.
